Touching Stories of Ex-YETP Trainees

YETP and Radio 2 of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) have jointly produced "Life Taking a Turn" including three videos which are about the touching stories of three ex-trainees of YETP who have turned their life from misty to shining ones. The three characters are Chen Zhou, a Line Maintenance Professional in an aircraft engineering company; Winky Chan Wing-yin, an Assistant Housekeeping Supervisor in a local hotel and Freddy Lee Chun-ho, an Unit Manager of an insurance company.

The three youngsters found their career path through the on-the-job training and special employment projects of YETP. In addition to the encouragement and guidance of the employers and training bodies, their efforts and perseverance to overcome challenges at work enabled them
to achieve a bright future. Let us share how their
lives changed so dramatically!
Chen Zhou

Zhou moved from Fujian to Hong Kong in August 2009 and was admitted to a school as a F.5 student. He sat for HKCEE and passed all subjects except English Language. As a school dropout who failed to secure a job, Zhou began to follow the footsteps of his family and became a worker of interior renovation. He was later enlightened by the words of his fellow worker and aspired to advancement. When taking Light Rail, Zhou coincidentally saw an advertisement promoting "Aircraft Maintenance Craftsman Trainee" Training Project of YETP. He was very interested in this project and joined YETP. After a year of training, Zhou found his career goal and direction.

Winky started her 1-month workplace attachment training in a hotel in March 2006 through this programme. Upon completion of her training, a further 6-month on-the-job training for the position of Room Attendant Trainee was offered to Winky. She cannot image that she has worked there for 8 years when sometimes she wanted to give up, however……
