A school leaver at F.3, Hong was addicted to playing online games at home without any sense for work. He joined YETP while working as a catering assistant in a restaurant. At first, he was frequently scolded by the restaurant supervisor for not knowing how to take orders, so he quitted the job without hesitation. He was subsequently encouraged by his colleagues to return to work. With the assistance of his case manager, Hong managed to establish his career goal and became aware of his weaknesses. He developed his own code to take orders and the restaurant also assigned a mentor to teach him bartending skills. Being cared for and accepted by his colleagues and case manager, Hong became more proactive. He took the initiative to ask his mentor for advice and kept on practising the bartending skills. In a month's time, he switched from part-time junior bartender to full-time bartender and was in charge of the whole beverage bar. Recently, he was further promoted as Programme Officer of the restaurant. Having found his career direction, Hong mapped out his career path step by step successfully.

After completing his higher diploma course, Philip aspired to join the construction sector but did not have any job opportunity. Through YETP, he had the chance to be employed by a building company as trainee and was responsible for construction management and coordination. Since the construction site was quite far away from his residence, he had to wake up early for work every morning and he needed to handle a lot of unexpected challenges at work which required judgment skills. Nevertheless, Philip was a responsible and conscientious employee with high expectations of himself. With the support of his case manager, supervisor and colleagues, he was able to pick up the work quickly. YETP also granted Philip off-the-job training allowance to complete a course on Safety Supervisor Certificate for attaining professional qualification. Through the Programme, he mapped out his career goal in site safety and pursued further studies by enrolling in a professional diploma course in construction safety.

She was confused and worried about her future. She was later referred by a social welfare organisation to join YETP and became an Employment Services Ambassador in a job centre. While attending a course in job-search and interpersonal skills under the Programme, she was acquainted with other participants and pursued their common ideals and goals together. She also got to know some ethnic minority participants who had successfully overcome language and cultural barriers to become teachers and social workers. Shahzina used to be quiet and introverted, but through on-the-job training, she became confident and outspoken. She had the opportunities to practise Chinese listening and writing skills which enabled her to explain South Asian culture in Chinese to local employers and introduce vacancies to local people in job fairs. Upon the completion of on-the-job training, Shahzina knew clearly that she had to help more people in need.
