10 Most Improved Trainees recognised for their improvements in personal development, leadership, social service and job performance were promoted to "Pilots" on 11 August 2010 during the YETP 2010/11 Programme Kick-off cum Award Ceremony of Most Improved Trainees 2010 at the Youth Square in Chai Wan. They are now ready to fly ahead to their dreams!

Mr Matthew CHEUNG Kin-chung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare (SLW) came as the Chief Pilot to support young people and to present awards to the 10 awardees, winning employers and training bodies. Along with other honorable guests, Mr Matthew CHEUNG (SLW) and Mr Alan WONG Kwok-lun, JP, Deputy Commissioner (Labour Administration) (DC) officiated at the Programme Kick-off Ceremony of YETP 2010/11.

Youth idols FAMA and Fiona Fung at the Ceremony encouraged young people with their own experiences and shared the memorable moments of 10 Most Improved Trainees under YETP.

Ho Yin has strong interest in cars. He is joyful to have the opportunity to broaden his horizons and develop his expertise in the motor industry through joining YETP. Ho Yin has good work ethic and is eager to learn. To further equip himself in the career path, Ho Yin is now planning to enrol in part-time bachelor degree programme.

Graduated from high school in the Mainland, Li Hong found it difficult to adapt to the new environment after migrated to Hong Kong. Li Hong joined Kee Wah as sales assistant under YETP which was a turning point of her life. Li Hong re-gained self confidence and is keen to learn. She jots down important notes during daily work and takes the initiative to receive foreign customers. Her remarkable improvement deeply impresses her branch manager.

Julia was a self-oriented person and that hindered her from getting along well with others during initial period of on-the-job training and workplace attachment training. With accumulated working experience and guidance, Julia learned to be more considerate and put good efforts in enhancing performance. Julia shows impressive improvement in interpersonal skills.

Man Kwong is smart and active. Although he does not possess strong language proficiency, his diligence has earned credit from his employer. Man Kwong was once rebellious, but luckily found his way at last and is now well received by colleagues and employer. He grasps every opportunity to learn with gratitude.

Disappointed by unsatisfactory HKCEE results, Ho Nam stayed at home for months. She joined YETP with the encouragement and companionship of her sister. The job of ticketing trainee helped her regain her self-confidence. She works hard to pursue her goal as a professional ticketing officer and is particularly happy to find herself capable of supporting family financially. Her prudent work performance is highly praised by supervisors.

His calm mind and strong sense of responsibility have gained himself much respect. Jason has boosted up his confidence and communication skills through on-the-job training. He is now studying part-time bachelor degree course of aviation and tourism to pave way for further advancement.

Suffering from dyslexia, Kuen was uncertain about his future before joining YETP. He made up his mind to learn after taking part in the Programme. With a stable job, Kuen now can have more time to take care of his mother and sister.

Koon Yee has keen interest in precision instruments since she was young. She succeeded in taking up the post of Aircraft Maintenance Craftsman Trainee under YETP. At first, Koon Yee was unfamiliar with repairing work, but now she manages to complete the tasks independently. Koon Yee has positive working attitude and gets along well with her colleagues even under highly demanding working environment. She gains great job satisfaction with progressive improvement.

He actively equips himself with different skills and has attained qualifications in various fields such as guitar and mountaineering, etc. He is also an active volunteer in community work and is devoted to his career goal in the social work industry.

Tsz Shan once lacked confidence and did not have any plan for the future. After joining YETP, she actively commits herself to work. In order to upgrade her skills and professional knowledge, she practises hair styling on her own and attends relevant training courses after work. She is now striving to achieve her career goal as a professional hair stylist.
